who we are

The Class Notes are Cornell's oldest co-ed a cappella group, having been founded in 1983. Though we were originally founded as a jazz group, we've since grown to sing everything from Rihanna to Hozier to Kanye West. We perform all over campus, the greater NY area, and also go on tour every year to show off our stuff to the rest of the world. Previous tours have been to Jamaica, Canada, Miami, Boston, and a tour to mars is currently in the works (thanks @elonmusk). Through the years our crazy concert themes, sharp choreography, and astonishingly good looks have led to us to find a place in the hearts of many a Cornellian. The Class Notes have been featured on multiple best-0f-a-cappella albums which feature groups from all over the country, placed into ICCA semifinals, and also won best soloist at ICCAs in 2012 (shoutout to Maya!) for the song "Best Thing" by Beyonce. Our music is currently on Spotify and Apple Music and our 12th studio album is set to be released in the Fall of 2018. If you'd like to join the Class Notes, come hang with us at auditions! Until then, enjoy the site and thanks for stopping by.

Become a Class Note!

If you like to jam out and have fun, you've come to the right place. We hold auditions during the first week of classes in the fall and spring and we can't wait to hear what you've got. Auditioning is simple and low stress: just prepare a verse and a chorus of a song that you feel shows off your voice. If you beatbox or have any other special talents we'll want to see those too. See you there!
